Fujie Tanikawa was born in Japan on 4 March 1908. At some point, she had children.
Tanikawa received a congratulatory letter and gifts from the city and prefecture in celebration of her 100th birthday. At that time, she resided with her eldest son. It was reported that she wasn’t picky when it came to food, and she had never experienced serious illness. When asked about the secret of her longevity, she replied, “Happily chatting with family and friends.”
Fujie Tanikawa passed away at the hospital in Tokushima City, Tokushima Prefecture, Japan, on 9 June 2019, at the age of 111 years, 97 days.
Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Ryohei Asano, and validated by LongeviQuest on 15 December 2023.
