LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Elnora Cage of the United States at age 110. She was born in West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, United States on 9 June 1874. Cage’s roots stretched back to enslaved ancestors from Virginia and possibly Cherokee heritage.
Married at 20, she raised 15 children on a 362-acre farm in Mississippi, their lives guided by Baptist and later Methodist faith. Widowed in 1964, she moved to Louisiana, eventually settling in Baton Rouge, where arthritis confined her to bed at 104.
At 105, Cage boasted a staggering 993 living descendants, including great-great-great-grandchildren. Mentally sharp, she recognized everyone she met, except those too young to know. With twelve surviving children, her family spanned generations, from her 85-year-old daughter Altha to her 61-year-old son Foley. One of her daughters lived to be 107, while another daughter lived to be 106. Her descendants thrived in diverse fields, from ministers and teachers to computer technicians and Ph.D. holders, proving her legacy extended far beyond numbers.

Newspapers celebrated Cage’s 100th birthday in 1974, highlighting her incredible legacy of 1,037 descendants, a number that continued to grow even after her passing. Sadly, 18 months before her death, she experienced a two-day coma and never fully regained her health.
Cage passed away in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA, on 3 September 1984. At the time of passing, she was likely the oldest living person in the U.S. state of Louisiana.
