Chie Ogata was born in Minamata, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, on 3 October 1908. She got married at some point and eventually had 10 children. Her husband, Zenkichi, was a carpenter. She ran a farm while serving meals to her husband’s apprentices.
According to her fourth daughter, she had lived a healthy life with little reliance on medicines. She moved into a nursing home for the first time around the age of 80. In 2012, she was admitted to the hospital’s nursing ward. At the age of 110, she was bedridden.
Chie Ogata passed away in Minamata, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, on 3 July 2020, at the age of 111.
Following the death of Tsurue Furuno on 8 July 2019, Ogata became the oldest living person in Kumamoto Prefecture.
Following her death, Shinobu Hayashi became the oldest living person in Kumamoto Prefecture.
Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Yumi Yamamoto and Yu Li, and validated by LongeviQuest on 25 June 2023.
