BIOGRAPHY

Kane Mori was born in Konagai (now part of Isahaya), Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, on 25 March 1906. She got married at some point and had two sons and two daughters.

At the age of 82, she climbed Mt. Taradake, and she was physically active the age of 92. When asked about the secret of her longevity, she said: “Work hard and move hard.” At the age of 111, she had 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. At the time, she lived with her eldest son and his family, and attended daycare four times a week.

Kane Mori passed away in Isahaya, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, on 22 February 2018, at the age of 111.

RECOGNITION

On 12 March 2017, following the death of 111-year-old Haruyo Matsunaga, she became the oldest living person in Nagasaki Prefecture.

Upon her death, Ichi Hatta became the oldest living person in Nagasaki Prefecture.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Stefan Maglov, Ryohei Asano, Yu Li and Marco Wikkerink, and validated by LongeviQuest on 4 June 2023.
