Käthe Von Reeken was a validated German supercentenarian who died in 2023 at the age of 110. She was the third-oldest known living person in the state of Lower Saxony, Germany.
Käthe Von Reeken was born on October 9, 1912, in Stickgras, Delmenhorst, Lower Saxony, Germany. She attended school locally and then went to a women’s technical school in Bremen before working on an estate in Berne, Lower Saxony.
In Berne, she met her husband, and they married in 1933. They raised their six children on a small farm adjacent to the teachers’ house. During World War II, her husband was drafted and taken prisoner, returning home two years after the war ended. In 1955, the family moved to Dangastermoor. The couple were known to be avid gymnasts.
In 2000, Von Reeken moved to an assisted living facility in Varel. She attributed her longevity to eating vegetables, practicing gymnastics, and breathing fresh air. On her 110th birthday, family members from as far as Namibia gathered to celebrate.
