LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Yukiko Honda of Japan at age 110. She was born in Tamana District, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan on 15 March 1913. Her ancestors belonged to samurai families that governed the region and were affluent landowners with extensive land holdings. Yukiko battled chronic health issues while excelling in high school basketball. She went on to study law at Meiji University, earning a clerk’s license after graduation.

Around 25, Honda married a railroad worker six years her senior, a local baseball star in the Kansai region. They raised four children, moving between Yonago and Kurashiki due to his job transfers. In her later years, Honda embraced her love for writing, contributing tanka poetry to a magazine after her children were grown. Despite a lifelong struggle with health, modern medicine and a passion for reading allowed her to live independently until she was 90. Following her husband’s passing, Honda continued a vibrant life, her family noting her sister’s longevity as a potential influence. Today, she resides in a nursing home in Okayama City.
