LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Isabel Dryden of Canada at age 111. She was born in Elora, Ontario, Canada on 16 October 1888. Dryden traded rural life for the classroom, becoming a teacher after her teenage studies.
In 1917, she married and raised their two children. In 1918, she relocated to Vancouver, where she joined Kitsilano United Church and actively participated in women’s groups. A dedicated volunteer, she served with the Red Cross during World War II and into the 1960s. Widowed in 1955, she continued a vibrant life.
Nearing her 95th birthday, Dryden transitioned to a nursing home. At the age of 104, she was honored with a SPRY Award (the Society for Programs in Retirement Years) at a ceremony held in Vancouver. Recognized as the oldest resident in her nursing home, she earned this prestigious award for her vibrant spirit and contributions to the community.
At the age of 105, she was still trying to read 10 to 20 pages every night before going to bed.

Dryden passed away in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on 20 July 2000, at the age of 111 years, 278 days. She was survived by her two children, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. At the time of death, she was the second-oldest living person in Canada, behind Zelda McCague.
