LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Haruko Mekaru at 112 years old. She was a Japanese supercentenarian born on 5 July 1910 in Nanjō City, Okinawa Prefecture.
At some point in her life, she got married to a skilled master carpenter. Her family witnessed a fierce war during the Pacific War where their place of residence became a battlefield. Fortunately, they are living way off the road, so they sustained minimal damage from the conflict.
She moved into a nursing home where she celebrated her 111th and 112th birthdays while wearing her kimono. Haruko enjoyed sata andagi which is an Okinawan sweet, deep-fried bun similar to a doughnut.
Mrs. Mekaru passed away on 21 November 2022 at her nursing home in Nanjō City, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan.
