LongeviQuest is pleased to announce the age validation of Eudocia Barría Barrientos of Chile at age 112. Upon her validation, she claimed the title of the oldest validated person from Chile.
She was born in Mechuque, Los Lagos Region, Chile on 10 February 1911. She was a sister to two siblings, a mother to a daughter, and a dedicated grandmother. Eudocia Barría Barrientos learned sewing and embroidery from a young age at Singer company workshops. She acquired a sewing machine in 1930 and used it to sew for local families of German descent. After World War II, she received requests to produce clothing for export to Germany. She also enjoyed cultivating orchards, baking for her granddaughters, teaching family members how to sew, and infusing pillows with fragrance. She loved receiving bouquets of flowers.
At the age of 110, she was still able to sew. At 112, she now uses a cane for support and sometimes feels disoriented when she wakes up. Eudocia Barría Barrientos is independent and eats on her own, and she keeps up with current events by reading the newspaper. She has been hard of hearing for a long time, but she lip-reads. She has two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.
