LongeviQuest is pleased to report that the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO) has validated the age of Mary Gwendoline Moore, with assistance from LongeviQuest in procuring the necessary evidence. She was born in Tredegar, Blaenau Gwent, Wales, United Kingdom on 2 December 1911. She had four siblings, including another supercentenarian Sarah Lilian Priest.
Mrs. Moore married Cyril Clifford Pearce and they had 3 children. However, Mr. Pearce passed away at the age of 37. She remarried at some point in her life. In 1966, she emigrated to Australia to live with one of her daughters who had previously moved there. She returned to Wales for a family visit and at that time she persuaded her other daughter to move to Australia as well. Her son remained living in Tredegar with his wife.
Mrs. Moore passed away in Bongaree, Queensland, Australia, on 31 March 2023 at the age of 111 years, 119 days. She is survived by 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Likewise, her older sister, Sarah Lilian Priest, passed away in England on 6 June 2021, at the age of 112 years, 211 days. With a final combined age of 223 years, 330 days, they are one of the oldest sibling pairs on record.
On 13 May 2022, following the death of 111-year-old Ina Reid of New South Wales, she became the oldest living person in Australia.
LongeviQuest congratulates Mrs. Moore’s family on her posthumous recognition.
